I've always loved traveling and keeping a diary of my experiences. This upcoming drop links last months drop on Indonesia and a surf trip I did out there with my friends. We spent two weeks on this pirate boat chasing endless waves, swapping stories, and ultimately laughing as this experience was a dream trip. As a kid, I always wanted to see these waves in person. You see them on surf videos and say, 'someday'. This someday became a reality. In between sessions I found myself painting more than ever. After we'd eat lunch, we'd have this downtime to rest before the next surf. Within a week of being on the boat, I filled my sketchbook full of watercolors to remember this experience. When I got home, I brought some of my favorite moments to paper here. These works sit between my sketchbook and my larger canvas paintings. They are painted in one uninterrupted morning session, usually with coffee in hand. No revisions. No edits. Just capturing a moment, a place, or an experience I want to remember. Most of these ideas would normally live in my sketchbook. This series is a way to share a few of them with the world.
